Fiery Fest 2026: Bringing People Together Through Movement and Community
Some events are remembered because of who performed.
Others because of how many people attended.
Fiery Fest 2026 will be remembered for something much simpler.
It was a day where people chose to spend time together.
On Sunday 12 July 2026, Portobello Green welcomed people from across London for a free day of movement, wellbeing and community. Some arrived with friends. Others came alone. By the end of the day, conversations had been shared, new faces had become familiar, and a public space had become a place of connection.
That has always been the heart of Fiery Fest.
More than a festival
Fiery Fest wasn’t created simply to fill a park with activities.
It was created to make wellbeing feel accessible.
Too often, movement and wellbeing spaces can feel expensive, exclusive or intimidating. They can leave people wondering whether they’ll fit in, whether they’re experienced enough, or whether they’re even welcome.
We wanted to create something different.
A place where there was no expectation to perform, no pressure to commit to a full day, and no experience needed before arriving.
Just an open invitation to come along, try something new and spend time with other people.
Whether someone joined one session, stayed for the afternoon, or simply stopped by to watch and chat, they were part of Fiery Fest.
A journey through movement
Throughout the day, participants explored a wide range of movement and wellbeing practices, each offering a different way to reconnect with the body and mind.
The day began by settling into the breath before moving through Afrikan Yoga, Feldenkrais, Barre, Qi Gong and somatic movement. As the day drew to a close, participants were invited to slow down once more during a deeply restorative Reiki Sound Bath.
Although each session came from a different tradition, they shared something in common: they invited people to become a little more present, a little more curious, and a little kinder to themselves.
For many, it was the first time experiencing these practices.
We hope it won’t be the last.
The moments between the timetable
If you asked our facilitators what made the day special, many probably wouldn’t begin by talking about the sessions.
They’d talk about everything in between.
The conversations over lunch.
The smiles exchanged between strangers.
People cheering each other on as they tried something unfamiliar.
The quiet moments of rest beneath the trees.
Community doesn’t only grow during organised activities.
Sometimes it grows while sharing food, asking a question, introducing yourself, or simply sitting alongside someone else for a while.
Those moments matter just as much.
A festival shaped by many hands
Events like Fiery Fest never happen because of one person.
They happen because many people choose to contribute.
Our heartfelt thanks go to every facilitator who shared their knowledge, generosity and passion throughout the day.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers from Volunteer Centre Kensington & Chelsea, whose kindness and willingness to help created a welcoming experience from the moment people arrived.
Thank you to everyone who attended. Whether you moved, rested, laughed, volunteered, or simply spent an hour with us, you helped shape the atmosphere that made Fiery Fest what it became.
We’re also grateful to Westway Trust, our generous funders for believing in the importance of accessible community wellbeing and helping make the festival free for everyone.
Why this matters
North Kensington is one of London’s richest communities in terms of culture, heritage and diversity.
Fiery Fest celebrated that diversity by bringing together practices from different traditions and creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet through shared experience.
In a time when it’s easy to stay within familiar circles, choosing to spend a day alongside people we don’t yet know feels quietly important.
Connection doesn’t always begin with conversation.
Sometimes it begins by moving together.
Looking ahead
Fiery Fest may only last for a day, but its purpose continues long after the final session ends.
Every conversation started, every new friendship formed and every person who discovered a practice they hadn’t experienced before becomes part of something much bigger than a single event.
We’ll continue creating spaces where people can move, rest, learn and connect with one another.
Because stronger communities aren’t built through grand gestures.
They’re built one welcome, one conversation and one shared experience at a time.
We hope to see you at the next one.
