Fiery Hearts is committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for everyone who takes part in our activities.

This includes children, young people, vulnerable adults, participants, staff, volunteers and partners.

 

Our Commitment

We aim to ensure that all wellbeing, arts and community sessions are delivered in a safe and inclusive way.

We do not tolerate abuse, neglect, discrimination or unsafe behaviour in any form.

All staff, volunteers and facilitators are expected to follow our safeguarding procedures.

 

Who This Applies To

This policy applies to all people involved in Fiery Hearts activities, including:

  • staff
  • volunteers
  • contractors
  • facilitators
  • partner organisations

It also applies to all participants attending our sessions.

 

Safeguarding Responsibilities

Fiery Hearts has a designated safeguarding lead responsible for responding to concerns and ensuring this policy is followed.

All staff and volunteers must:

  • treat participants with respect and dignity
  • maintain appropriate professional boundaries
  • report any concerns about safety or wellbeing
  • follow safeguarding guidance

 

Recognising Concerns

Safeguarding concerns may include:

  • physical or emotional harm
  • neglect
  • inappropriate behaviour
  • financial or organisational abuse
  • situations where a person may be at risk

Any concerns must be taken seriously.

 

Reporting Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises:

  1. Report the concern to the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  2. The concern will be recorded confidentially
  3. Where necessary, appropriate authorities will be contacted
  4. In an emergency, contact emergency services

Safeguarding information is handled confidentially and shared only when necessary to protect someone.

 

Safer Recruitment & Training

Where required, staff and volunteers working with vulnerable groups may undergo DBS checks.

Safeguarding training and guidance will be provided where appropriate.
